About Attar Sacred Body Oil™
The Origin of Botanical Essence
“Inspired by Petch Petch—sacred oils of the Neteru (Gods).”
The Birth of Perfumery
Before modern perfumery, there was Attar—pure botanical essence.
Its origins trace back thousands of years to Kemet (ancient Egypt), where perfume was not merely worn, but revered. Aroma was understood as a living force—used for purification, healing, protection, and spiritual elevation.
In Kemetic cosmology, all life emerged from Nwn—the primordial waters, the infinite source from which creation began.
From these waters rose the sacred lotus, symbolizing life, beauty, and renewal. From the lotus emerged Nefertem, Neter (God/divine living force) of perfumery and healing—guardian of sacred oils and the divine essence of plants.
Perfume, in this tradition, was not cosmetic. It was sacred.
Petch Petch — The First Perfume
In ancient Kemet, sacred aromatic oils were known as Petch Petch—meaning “Sweat of the Neteru (Gods).”
These botanical compositions were first used within temples as sacred offerings to the Neteru (divine forces)—honoring the connection between the material and spiritual worlds through scent.
Crafted by temple perfumers, Petch Petch was later used to anoint the body, support purification, and elevate both physical and spiritual states.
Blended from precious botanicals such as frankincense, myrrh, lotus, and resinous oils, these aromatic essences were regarded as living expressions of the divine—bridging the human and the sacred.
A Living Lineage
As civilizations evolved, this aromatic knowledge traveled through India, Persia, and the Middle East, where it was preserved and refined.
The word Attar (from Arabic ‘itr, meaning essence) became the modern expression of this ancient tradition.
Today’s Attars are not a new creation—they are a continuation of one of the oldest sensory rituals in human history.
The Nature of Attar
True Attars are pure botanical perfume oils—distilled from flowers, woods, herbs, spices, and resins, often aged to develop depth and complexity.
Free from alcohol and synthetic additives, they offer:
• A highly concentrated, long-lasting aroma
• A scent that evolves naturally with the body
• A pure expression of botanical integrity
Each Attar is alive with the essence of the plant from which it was derived—intimate, enduring, and deeply personal.
The Experience of Attar
Attars are not simply worn—they are experienced.
Rooted in centuries of botanical tradition, they are valued for their ability to support balance, clarity, and sensory awareness—engaging both the body and the subtle connection between mind and presence.
Traditionally, Attars are associated with:
• Emotional balance and calm
• Enhanced mood and clarity
• Skin vitality and natural renewal
• Relaxation and restorative stillness
• Sensory awareness and intuitive connection
• Grounding and inner alignment
Their influence is both physical and experiential—felt as much as it is perceived.

Attar vs. Essential Oils
Understanding the Difference
What is an Attar?
Attar is a pure botanical perfume oil, traditionally distilled from flowers, woods, herbs, spices, and resins—often aged to develop depth, richness, and longevity.
Unlike modern fragrances, Attars are alcohol-free and crafted to be worn directly on the skin, where they evolve naturally with your body’s chemistry.
What are Essential Oils?
Essential oils are concentrated plant extracts obtained through steam distillation or cold pressing.
They are commonly used in aromatherapy, skincare formulations, and wellness practices, but are often too potent to be applied directly to the skin without dilution.
How are Attars different from Essential Oils?
Attars
• Pre-blended botanical compositions
• Traditionally aged for depth and complexity
• Designed for direct skin application
• Long-lasting, evolving fragrance
• Often distilled into a base oil (such as sandalwood)
Essential Oils
• Single-plant extracts
• Typically not aged
• Often require dilution before use
• More sharp or linear in aroma
• Primarily used for aromatherapy or formulation
Which lasts longer?
Attars are generally more long-lasting, as they are concentrated and often aged, allowing the scent to develop gradually and remain on the skin for hours.
Essential oils tend to evaporate more quickly, especially lighter top notes like citrus.
Which is better for wearing as a perfume?
Attars are specifically designed to be worn as natural perfume oils, offering a softer, more intimate scent experience that evolves throughout the day.
Essential oils, while aromatic, are typically not formulated to function as complete perfume on their own.
Are Attars more natural?
Both Attars and essential oils can be natural, but true Attars are:
• Alcohol-free
• Free from synthetic fragrance
• Composed entirely of botanical ingredients
The difference lies not in naturalness—but in purpose, refinement, and tradition.
The Essence of the Difference
Essential oils capture the scent of a plant.
Attars transform it into an experience.
A Return to Essence
In a world of synthetic fragrance and excess, Attar returns us to what is essential:
Purity. Simplicity. Intention.
Not created—but distilled from nature.
The Ritual Philosophy
Cleanse • Polish • Infuse • Adorn
Each step prepares the body. Attar completes it.
